Leon if you were in Croswell, Michigan, you must've driven by the Monkey family estate in Peck, the next little town over. ! My 89 year old mother still lives there on the farm. I hope you threw a banana out the window on your way by...

Yep, I was born a Yankee but it was a mistake I ironed out by the time I was 22!

I worked for Kettlewells they owned J&D and I was there for 13 years. I moved to Illinois for 9 years and when I came back to Michigan I started at J&D was there for only 2 or 3 weeks and had to go back to Illinois. "Had a mess going on in my life at that time, long story"

I came back to Michigan a year or so  later and tried to get back in to J&D but I think I ticked them off pretty bad for leaving there so they didn't hire me back. I was kind of crushed because I loved that store, but I could not blame them.

Anyway I have been working for Jeff's Market for 4 years now.

well then you definitly knew some people who still work there. ..i guess you are my closest competition too. I have been there since january. I moved back to michigan from Virginia where i lived for 6 years. I do all my cutting and wrapping and lunch meat myself. . I guess if i needed help I could ask but I never need help. There is just one other guy to work on my days off, I never worked with him. I like it the way it is. I prefer to do as much with the meat dept. by myself as I can.

I sure don't miss that place. I had some good experiences cutting meat but they weren't there. I heard 6 months after I left they tore out the meat case, meat dept and the deli department. Then they put in a Subway.
