WELL the old man has retired at 67, but not because he wanted to !! Did want to make one more year ( yes i'm nuts lol ) Six months ago I had a run in with a grocery D.M. he wrote me up and suspended me for three days. the charge was bull **** and he was investigating officer and hearing officer. wasn't given a place for my comments, wasn't allow witness or had any way to appeal it. I took it to the labor board, yesterday the company settle with me for 10,000 dollars but one condition was they paid me for the last 7 weeks to my retirement that was schedule for this Sept 25 and PLEASE get out their door lol
I was going to work another year but when I came back off my medical leave July 9th, three days later this D.M. tried to write me up again, company wouldn't let him but I took the advantage of it to give notice i would retire this Sept 25th because of his harassment. It work well for me lol
My first day of retirement and I wake up at 4 in the morning @#$%^&*()@# lol o well guess I'll take nap while all of ya'll is working ( wink )
Congratulations on retiring, but I'm not sure which is right. You say you're retiring on Sept 25 and then you say today is your first day of retirement.
I'd like to hear all about your write up/suspension and continuing harassment. Sounds like it's probably the same thing that happens out here. I'm hearing a lot about it when I work days off at Safeway & Lucky and markets and I've seen it and experienced it at Nob Hill Foods. I'm surprised no one has ever gone postal at one of these places.

Larry I was going to retire next sept 25th 2011 but when the D.M. tried to write me up when I came back I used that to give my retirement notice for this Sept 25th. I knew he would do the dumb thing when I came back, he did and I used it to show he was still doing the harassment bit to the labor board. it worked they put the deal to the company to buy out my last weeks and then give me 5000 for the unfair action with the write up.

I will say, I would rather be working, because being home, my wife thinks she has to keep me a " honey do list " every day !! and she doesn't give breaks or lunch hours lol
