I was wondering if any of you in Midwest or Eastern states may work their days off at other markets. I don't mean do you have two different jobs, both in meat cutting. I mean can you get dispatched to other shops?
I guess it's a union thing. If you're union, you may call the union and you might get sent to a store that needs extra help. You could be sent to any one of hundreds of stores. This week in addition to my 40 hours at Lunardi's, I got 8 hours at Lucky (Thursday) and 8 hours at Safeway (Saturday). Claiming zero, I'll take home about $160.00 each day, so it's a great way to pick up extra money. I'm putting it away for property tax payments & rainy days.
Hi Larry, that doesn't happen that way down here, you have to have two market jobs to get extra pay. there is few union shops left in the south, the biggest is in Atlanta BUT even when I was in it you still had to have a extra job to make extra pay.
GLAD to see you getting a little money in your pocket lol my birthday is coming up soon, I'll send you a list lol
Yeah I work two jobs cutting in north Ga. The pay scale here isn't near what you're getting but of course I only have close to 9 yrs. exp. But ilike the meat business so what else can i say?
That's one problem with being salary. You can be expected to work extra hours at your home store or at a sister store with no extra cash. It's a good thing I love cutting meat!
