I work for Save A Lot, we don't run turkeys on special, our honeysuckles were 89 lb we sold quite a few at that prices,
Hams are my thing more or less at Thanksgiving and Xmas

GOOD to see you on the board BuckMC smile

I gotta put my two cents in haha. I work at Musser's Markets in and around quarryville, pa good ol lancaster county. We are part of an independent family owned markets group and second only to GIANT. I also am right in the middle of the transition into hams. Do you guys go through thousands of pounds of pork the few days before new years day?

Hi Buck, got your two cents, here is mine  lol

I'm one that no longer has to worry about thousand of lbs of anything lol  I only do up to 48,500 in my market, SO I look at case's instead of lbs lol

My company does have one store close to me that on a big week will go through 16 cases of pork loin a day on fri, sat, sun of that week.

Buck i google your stores, very nice !! I like the store layout of the Buck store. which one are you at ?

This time of the year is so tough on us meat ppl , Turkeys , then Hams for Christmas , then the worst of it all is slicing 100 cases of hog jowls for New Years . Hears hoping all of you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Be safe and may next year bring everyone great year.

We ran our turkeys reg. price but we had a $10 off coupon 10-16lb turkeys and $15 off !6 & up. didn't go too well we have a lot of turkeys left over, looks like we will be cutting them up after new years..  we ran Honeysuckle's for .79 the first week of November which I think hurt our thanksgiving sales we went through a lot more than we thought that week.

We ran a promotion where you spend a $100 in the store (which isn't hard when rich folk shop here), get a free turkey. The receipt printed a bar-code you could either use then or later. It was madness, even after thanksgiving. I got a chance to speak with the CEO and he was real casual about how well it did and that "we won't try to do that to you too often." I wanted to hit him with my limp arm. My left shoulder and elbow still hurts from having to weigh up every single substituted turkey. We gave away well over 5,000 cases worth.
